With the sun in our faces and the wind on our back, like the Irish say, we got off to a great day for our second friendly. We knew it was not going to be such a friendly, but more of a whose who from America in the Super Cup. Needless to say, it was all that we expected the game to be: gritty, rough, and absolutely wet. Strikers FC-SC, immediately went down on two defensive errors, causing Coach Sergio to make his first substitution ten minutes into the match. By bringing in Quinn Richardson into the right wing position and making a formation adjustment, the Strikers began to build off the back, leveling the playing field.
But it wasn't until the second half that the Strikers truly got their rhythm back. Mark Anthony Trejo came in to play holding mid, allowing Tristan Webber to connect and to be more creative, one of his best qualities. Another quality is his ability to feed the forwards. In this case, again Bryan Martinez who promptly scored the Strikers first comeback goal by chipping the goalkeeper from Webber's assist. Our second goal came in the form of a stolen, soft pass from GPS Bayern, allowing Martinez to take on the goalkeeper and make a top, right shot on goal. The game was now equalized close to the 60th minute. The game was over and fate was set. A tie for new rivals, GPS Bayern and Strikers FC.
On to tomorrows activities! The boys are looking forward to seeing all the teams that will be participating as all teams should arrive by tomorrow. The parade is a great way to show colors, spirit and size up the competition. Until tomorrow and God Bless!
