For the Strikers premier team, they are as hungry as ever because they still have a chance to be in the Super Cup. Today they play Otago, a team from New Zealand.
Strikers are definitely switching up their play from yesterday by incorporating more passing rather than long balls. Otago use the long ball tactic but it doesn't work because our defenders are taller than theirs. The first goal is a quick one as Rayshaun fires a 40 yard ball over the keeper; it surprised everyone. There have been lots of diagonal crosses by Tristan and we have missed our opportunity again. Coby receives a bouncing ball from the top of the box and kicks it into the defender's hand. It is called a penalty, which Coby scores calmly. Coby charges down the line and crosses it to Rayshaun, who calmly hits it in to make it 3-0. Rayshaun passes two and fake shots and then hits it far post on a very tight angle. Otago seem to far away to catch the Strikers who are quickly building up their lead. Otago score from a corner that is hit near post and a player finishes by tipping it into the far post. The first half ends and Strikers are doing the most they can to push more goals into the net and another corner to the near post from Otago that gets tipped back and the Strikers right back miss positions himself and scores an own goal. Strikers must score more goals or defend Otago from scoring to be able to win the game. A beautiful chip from Rayshaun that gets past the defenders and Tristan awkwardly volleys it home. After the keepers quick punt to counterattack, Carlos kicks it in behind for Tristan and he takes the ball to the tight middle space and scores. It's 6-2 Strikers and it seems like that will be it from Otago.
The game ends 6-2 with a hat trick and assist from Rayshaun, definitely man of the match as he gives the team the points they need to have a chance to be in the Super Cup. It was a much needed win for Strikers after yesterday's hard-fought loss.
